Breast Cancer

A rare cancer linked to breast implants is on the rise in the U.S. The FDA issued a bulletin this week alerting health care providers of this finding. It is important for healthcare providers be on the look out in patients who have new swelling, lumps or pain around breast implants. Most of the cancer occurred in people who had textured surfaces on their implants rather than smooth surfaces.

This rare cancer is called Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. 457 women in the United States have been diagnosed with this malignancy.
