Osteoporosis Prevention

Osteoporosis prevention is an important aspect of preventative care that individuals need to be aware of. There are two types of exercises that are felt to be helpful: Weight-bearing exercises and resistance training.

Weight-bearing exercises are activities that make you work against gravity while staying upright. These include walking, jogging, dancing, hiking and even stair climbing. These exercises help stimulate bone growth and improve bone density.

Resistance exercises, on the other hand, involve working against some form of resistance, such as weights or resistance bands. These exercises help strengthen muscle and bones. Examples of resistance exercised include weightlifting, using resistance bands, or even doing bodyweight exercises like push-ups and squats.
